Many people who run meetings need better skills in making room for quieter/introverted folks. For example, when I run project retrospectives, I start with 10 minutes of (quiet) individual processing re the criteria of the projectโ€™s outcome, then everyone gets an opportunity to contribute their feedback to the group. Iโ€™ve received positive feedback in this method from women especially, and I think it would also benefit junior staff who may feel too intimidated to jump into the feedback loop.

Thatโ€™s a great suggestion Jen.

I think that could really work. Iโ€™m quite often asked to respond in real time to presentations which is tricky to get that deep thought.

I do worry that a skim of an issue can mean we miss things. (Or have the wool pulled over our eyes!)

I'm balanced on the Camera. If I need to engage, camera on. If I need to listen, I'll often put the camera off, get up, and do something with my hands like dishes or laundry so I'm not distracted and can focus.

I think it depends on the type of meeting it is. If itโ€™s a large meeting there youโ€™re mostly listening in then thatโ€™s fine.

A meeting where everyone is participating probably needs the visibility.

Thanks Winston. It's something ive been pressing on the junior members of my team that this is important.

I added the video/podcast/article recommendation sections too. Do you think those would be useful/interesting as a standing item each week?
