I set myself a challenge but now it's starting to hurt
Challenges are good right? My body says otherwise but I'm starting to feel the benefits and I think you can help me.
It may be a symptom of a midlife crisis.
It might be more of a reaction to my Dad’s cancer diagnosis last year.
Maybe it’s some of the amazing inspiration from the great people on Substack such as
from ?Maybe its something I just feel I should have a go at rather than sticking to my usual 6km running route week after week?
It’s probably a combination of a lot of things.
On Easter Sunday I will be running my first Half Marathon in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
And I need your help and encouragement.
As I say, my “why” is a combination of a few different drivers for me.
Not least, my Dad’s diagnosis with Prostate Cancer. He was seriously lucky that his golf club captain had teed up PSA tests for everyone coming off the 18th green one random afternoon. It was this test that caught it early.

He had treatment and is now cancer free.
I’ve set a target of raising £500. It’s the first time I’ve done anything like this but I hope that’s achievable.
So this is a chance to support me but more importantly help raise money for an important cause. (with your help we can smash that £500 target)
Here’s the link to my fund raising page.
Over the next few weeks I will share the progress I’m making in training.
Thank you.
Hi Martin, this is for a great cause. How are the preparations going? Is your body playing along? Maybe next year I can attempt this as well.
Woooohoooo! Remember: the training is the work. The race is the celebration. Have so much fun celebrating your incredible body, your Dad’s health and all the amazing humans around you!
