No worries. Yes, I love the posts. Shared a few at work this week which went down well too.

Just as a side note, due to its nature, Almanack of Naval Ravikant is free and available on its official website: https://www.navalmanack.com/. (You do not need to order it through Amazon.)

This is great! I love articles on luck and serendipity, which go hand in hand. I learned about the concept of luck surface area the other day. Fits into what you described today:

This is great! I hadn’t thought of it on those axis before. Ie you need to shout about what you’re good at.

“when people become aware of your expertise, some percentage of them will take action to capture that value, but quite often it will be in a way you would never have predicted.”

I absolutely loved this Martin, thanks so much for posting. I shared w/ another friend and I'm sure we'll have fun discussing it. Luck is not only a lady but a mystery! And so often the protagonist in other songs, novels and, perhaps, life itself.

I agree more with points No 2 and 4, which are 'Luck through persistence' and 'Build the skills and luck will find you'.

I feel that when it comes to luck, one main factor that plays a role is whether or not we attract it through our thoughts.

I do feel that if our thoughts and feelings are positive and align with our true desires, then we can somewhat attract such luck into our lives.

That’s a great point about how we think.

So much in life is the lense through which we see the world.

There seems to be a prevalence today of needing to see one’s self as a victim and the world is doing to you. Maybe there a mental shift to be done.

Luck is such an interesting topic! I see the influence of determinism so heavily - more and more lately - but I still refuse to believe that everything is decided because I, too, find that depressing.

Love this idea here Martin - thanks for cross-posting this as I wasn't on Substack back when you originally posted it!!

It reminds me a lot of Sahil Bloom's idea of "increasing luck surface area" - particularly your 2nd point. Very interesting ideas here.
