I worked with someone last year who couldn’t receive even positive feedback. It was bizarre. She’d ask for help on something then shoot down every solution presented to her, whoever by. Though she’s (technically) been in education slightly longer than I have, she’s going backwards in her career while I’m moving forwards and I truly believe it is all down to our differing willingness to take on feedback and learn from our colleagues.
The AirBnB host seemed to think 5/5 should be the default rating. It seems like there is rating inflation going on. A 4/5, converted to an academic grade, means "very good". Yet the host seems to expect a 5/5 rating. This reminds me of the current situation in academia, where students expects "A" grades for low-effort term papers.
The host's displeasure at your 3/5 rating (which, in academic grades, means "average") for value is strange, given that value has to be assessed in the context of the price. A spartan, small room at a roadside motel that is clean and welcoming might be a 5/5 value for £75 per night, but when a room is £198, your expectations rise accordingly. That same clean, spartan roadside motel room at £198 per night night would be a poor value.

Some people are just bullies.
Ha, maybe. 🤔 their loss ay.
I write so other people can read. Whatever is said to me about my writing is a gift I receive.
Exactly. That’s how we should see it.
It’s always difficult in the moment to see the gift - it takes some practice.

Exactly, they don’t seem to understand the meaning of value. It’s telling that the property is available for the next few weeks too.
