It's a good reminder to look for new expereinces, especially when taking time off from the mundane.
I do find that the novelty can also be overwhelming. When my wife and went on a trip to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, the first days in Bancock Thailand were a whirlwind blur of over-stimulation. When we hit Chang Mai things slowed down and by Laos, it was positively relaxing.
Also, having lived at Disney World for 2 years, I can say that there's a lot of parents trying to do too many novel things so there's clearly a balance here. It's good to break the rut but it's also wise to not lose your mind!
We often try to keep the first few days away calm so we can rejuvenate a little. And then maybe seek more adventurous activities as the holiday progresses.
I agree though, a full on two weeks can leave you totally exhausted!
One thing I've found that works too is to do a daily closeout and reflection. Marking the day off on a physical calendar also seems to help.
Thats a really healthy thing to do. I wish I was that diligent though!
Thanks! Needed!

It’s true you need to find a balance.

Creating mini adventures can work on holiday or at home. We just need to put a bit of thought and creativity into it. Great advice!
Yeah definitely. An approach of many mini breaks rather than one long holiday can bring you more variety.
Maybe a few more long weekends.
