Meet Dave.

Dave is tired of his company’s relentless pursuit of efficiency. He’s had enough of deadlines being met, goals being achieved, and a general sense of purpose in the office.

So, Dave has decided to take matters into his own hands—he's going to sabotage the business from within. He’s decided to take action on multiple fronts. He’s absolutely dedicated to destroying productivity across his team, thwarting progress and destroying any morale left over from this pursuit of chaos.

Dave will need to work discreetly because there’s a catch.

Under NO circumstances must he be caught and he certainty must NOT be sacked during this incredible experiment.

But how is he going to do this? How does one systematically dismantle a workplace without getting caught?

The answer: subtly, methodically, and with a dash of bureaucratic brilliance. If Dave plays his cards right, he can ensure the company grinds to a slow, painful halt, all while looking like he’s just following protocol.

Here’s how Dave (and anyone else looking to ruin anything) can achieve maximum disruption.

Step 1: Schedule More Meetings (and Make Them Longer)

Or that’s what management think you’re doing.

By ensuring that every decision, no matter how small, requires a meeting you make sure that the maximum amount of time is used up. Even better, make sure those meetings have no clear agenda and last at least twice as long as necessary.

Bonus points if you invite everyone but the one person who actually has the answer and an even bigger bonus if you don’t invite the one person who can make the final decision.

Step 2: Demand Perfection in the Most Pointless Tasks
